Fellowship for Community Outreach and Engagement Ambassadors

Are you passionate about citizen participation and political engagement? Do you have a strong presence—online or offline—in your community and the ability to connect with diverse groups, including those who are typically disengaged? If you’re excited about sparking meaningful conversations and linking communities with research, we want to hear from you.

The INTERFACED project is seeking Community Outreach and Engagement Ambassadors to help bridge the gap between academic research and the public by identifying participants and co-creating spaces for inclusive civic dialogue.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have substantial experience in community engagement, political advocacy, or civic participation (formal or informal)
  • Are part of, or connected to, networks involved in social movements or political action
  • Have the capacity and motivation to reach underrepresented or disengaged communities
  • Are deeply committed to democracy, public participation, and social justice
  • Are familiar with digital platforms for civic engagement (e.g. Polis, Decidim, etc.)
  • Possess strong communication skills and can facilitate inclusive, respectful discussions
  • Are comfortable working across languages, cultures, and geographic boundaries

Bonus: Ability to navigate multiple community roles and adapt your approach to different settings.


Key Responsibilities

As a Community Outreach and Engagement Ambassador, you will:

  • Identify and connect researchers with a steady stream of interviewees and participants (approx. 10–15 per month) from target countries: Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Romania, and Tunisia
  • Organise a minimum of two interactive public events per year (e.g. talks, workshops) that explore themes of civic participation, both online and offline
  • Recruit new members to the Edgeryders platform to join the research process
  • Work closely with the research team to refine outreach strategies and surface emerging themes that shape the research direction

Selection Process

  • The selection process consists of two interview rounds
  • Applications are evaluated within 2–3 weeks of submission
  • Selected candidates will be invited for a second interview before final decisions are made

Fellowship Details

  • Start Date: Flexible, but no later than September 1, 2025
  • Remuneration: Up to €9,450 over 3 years, depending on your level of engagement
  • Number of Fellowships: 4
  • Status: Freelance position under a Horizon Europe research project
  • Fellows are responsible for their own legal and tax arrangements in their country of residence

Applicants must be residents of one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Romania, or Tunisia.
